As we shift from an individual to a communal lifestyle, it is logistically seen as a cost-efficient way to develop the rural areas in the Alentejo. We can do this by:

·       Renting land

·       Buying land

·       Help a current owner develop the existing land ecologically

We have the possibility of partnering to set an example of a new way of living in sync with nature. It is possible as individuals, but we will have more impact  as partners.

We chose Alentejo as a pilot for the following reasons:

Alentejo is a region of Portugal as big as Belgium, with only 700.000 inhabitants spread over 1.400 hamlets. In comparison, Belgium has 11 million.
The population is declining due to old age, and young people are leaving to live abroad and going to the cities to make their fortune and “future.”

To reverse this process, we create groups of hamlets in microregions with a circular socio-economy. This will create jobs and save a vast amount of energy.

At the same time, we see a tendency among people from northern countries to leave all their acquisitions and move to a more harmonious natural lifestyle away from all the stress and rat race.

To meet these wishes, we will start a pilot in the underpopulated Alentejo, where people can contribute to developing and designing a new way of society, creating jobs for a renewed circular social econemy.
